Drug & Alcohol Rehab Centres in Southampton

Across the UK, lives are being torn apart by substance abuse; in Southampton, it is no different. Alcohol and drugs continue to blight the lives of so many individuals and their families, and because abuse of these substances can lead to crime, entire communities are often negatively affected. Alcohol is one of the most addictive and widely abused substances here in the UK, and it is responsible for poor health and premature death.  It places a massive strain on the NHS, with huge numbers of hospital admissions linked to alcohol abuse every single year. Without alcohol rehab in Southampton, many people would continue to struggle with this illness; an illness that will not go away without treatment.

It is essential that affected individuals in the city can access both alcohol and drug rehab in Southampton. Substance abuse not only leads to health problems; it can also cause a host of other negative consequences for the user and his or her family members. It can result in the breakdown of relationships, poverty, domestic abuse, and financial struggles.

Recovery.org.uk works hard to connect the people of Southampton with the addiction services they need to recover. If you are an affected person, you do not have to continue to struggle under the weight of addiction; help is available. All you need to do is get in touch with us now, and we will provide you with details of the various rehab providers in your area.

Are You in Need of Rehab in Southampton?

One of the most difficult parts of the recovery process is admitting that you could have a problem with alcohol or drugs. It is usually the case that those affected are unable to see how serious their substance abuse is until they are in the throes of addiction. The mere suggestion that they could have an alcohol addiction will be met with scorn, and they may even make their loved ones feel guilty for even mentioning the subject.

This is a very common situation; loved ones can often see the signs and symptoms of addiction long before the addict realises there is an issue. It can take a lot of courage to raise the subject, and to be met with angry denials may mean your loved one will be reluctant to mention it again; even when it is clear that the problem exists. Does this sound familiar to you?

Have your loved ones raised concerns about your drinking or drug-taking? Did you become angry or defensive with them? Are you reading this now because you have realised that they may have a point?

Helping You Find Drug and Alcohol Rehab in Southampton

If you need alcohol or drug rehab in Southampton, or anywhere else, for that matter, Recovery.org.uk can help. We are a free referral service that works hard to provide a link between addicts and rehab providers in all areas of the country. We do not offer treatments for addiction ourselves, but our years of experience working with those that do means that we know which provider will most suit your needs.

Rehab in Southampton is provided various organisations including private clinics, the NHS and charities. We work closely with these providers and know which addictions each specialises in. We are free to refer clients to the organisation we deem most suitable to their requirements.

We will determine these needs by providing you with a free assessment when you call. This will involve a discussion between you and one of our fully trained counsellors. We will ask questions regarding your substance abuse, both now and in the past. We will want to know the type of substance(s) you have abused, and how long you have been struggling with addiction. We will also need to know how often you abuse these substances as this will give an indication of the severity of your addiction.

With this information, we can match you with several treatment providers in your area from which you can make your choice. We will provide assistance and guidance when it comes to making your choice, but you will always have the final decision, and we will always respect it.

Getting Started with Rehab in Southampton

It is worth noting that rehabilitation programmes do not generally begin until the patient is free from drugs and alcohol – the process of getting clean is known as detox. A detox programme addresses the physical effects of the addiction and aims to break the link between the substance and the abuser.

Detox can be unpleasant and, at times, complicated, but those who detox in a supervised facility will have access to constant care and support and will be made completely comfortable throughout. With medical professionals on hand, medication may be prescribed where appropriate, which can help to lessen the impact of the withdrawal symptoms or even prevent some of them from occurring.

After the detox has been completed, which usually takes between one week and ten days, the patient will be ready to begin a programme of rehabilitation; this will be in either an inpatient or outpatient facility. With an inpatient programme, the individual will be admitted to a clinic where he or she will stay for the duration of treatment.

Inpatient treatment tends to be the remit of the private clinic and usually means staying in comfortable surroundings with a private or semi-private room. There will be little or no distractions from the outside world and the days will be filled with counselling, therapy and other activities designed to help with overcoming addiction.

Outpatient treatment programmes vary in that there is no need for an overnight stay. Patients will attend the clinic on a regular basis for treatment but will return home afterwards. This type of programme is ideally suited to those who have realised quite early in their addiction that they are in trouble and who have a strong network of support at home.

When it comes to rehab in Southampton, Recovery.org.uk can help you to find the one that will be best suited to your needs, preferences and budget. We will work closely with you to ensure you are completely comfortable with your choice.
